In «A l’ombre des clichés», the gallery presents a selection of artworks by artists who convey, through the medium of photography, a vision of their family environment, historical, cultural or societal.
This panorama covers the last twenty-five years, and serves as a revealer African and Middle Eastern societies’ mutations in this period of current post-colonial contexts. Beyond the images the lives of artists form a constellation of attitudes and reactions, with manifold fields to be explore.
Everyday life scenes serve as markers of the passage of time, revealing landscapes that are unchanging, even borrowed from nostalgia, as in the work of Seifollah Samadian. These messages, conveyed by powerful  images, gently cry out their truth in the rituals of daily life - Kamel Dridi or Isabelle Eshraghi - including those forbidden, as shown by Shadi Ghadirian with women fantasizing about perfume and make-up, while Zineb Sedira creates staged scenes  around the veil.
There are also happy children diving into the sea in Gaza - Taysir Banitji - or surprised adult population playing with snow in Jerusalem - Rula Halawani.
The works are guided by this susceptibility and developed through the prism of community behavior and actions..
For each of the artists, they sketch out the both own and global identity - Guy Tillim.
There is a sketch here, an experience in a sensitive commitment of artists to light of globalzsation, an underlying critique of consumer society and its irreversible damage - Nyaba Ouedraougo - a circulation of ideas and stories that reflects a period of emancipation - Reem Al Fayçal -.
It is a way of questioning, through the making of images, the discovery of humans, the acceptance of our differences in the individual and collective imagination (Maimouna Guerresi).
This focus, the artworks choice, through a journey into creation of these years in social change, questions ways of life and thought.
Photography and its processes establish a visual exploration of memory and narrative, a powerful vector of emancipation and an illustration of societal practices.
And highlight beauty and strength in meeting people and cultures.
